Registering to Vote

Voter registration is administered through the County Clerk's Office.

In order to register to vote, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • Citizen of the United States
  • 18 years of age on Election Day;
  • Resident of Wyoming as determined in accordance with W.S. 22-1-102(a)(xxx) and the precinct in which you register;
  • Withdrawal of voter registration from any other jurisdiction, if applicable;
  • Present a valid Wyoming Driver License if you have one and if not; provide the last four digits of your Social Security Number. (If you have neither, please indicate this on the Voter Registration Application form.)
  • Not been convicted of a felony, or if convicted, has had civil or voting rights restored.,
  • Not currently adjudicated mentally incompetent.

How Do I Register To Vote?

There are three ways to register to vote in Wyoming.

  1. Register in person
    • Voters may register to vote in the office of the county clerk or town clerk within their county of residence.
    • Voters may also print out a form online by clicking here and hand delivering the form to the county clerk in their county of residence. The form must be signed in front of the county clerk.

  2. Register by mail
    • Voters who are not currently in Wyoming or who cannot go to the county clerk's office may register to vote by mail. Click here to obtain a voter registration form.
      Follow these instructions:
      • Fill out the voter registration form in front of a notary or registry agent.
      • Show identification to the notary or registry agent.
      • Sign the voter registration oath and have the notary or registered agent sign and notarize the form.
      • Send the voter registration form and copies of the ID provided to the notary to the Niobrara County Clerk's Office, PO Box 420, Lusk, WY 82225.


  3. Register at the polls on Election Day
    • Wyoming allows qualified voters to register at the polls on Election Day. Bring an acceptable form of ID to the polls (for example: driver license, passport).
    • First Option- You must provide a valid Wyoming Driver's License if you have one.
    • Second option- If you do not own a valid Wyoming Driver's License, provide one of the following:
      • WY Photo Identification Card
      • Different state's driver license;
      • ID card issued by a local, state or federal agency;
      • U.S. passport;
      • School ID;
      • Or military ID
      • U.S. Armed Forces Dependent ID Card AND
      • Provide the last four (4) digits of your Social Security Number
    • Third option- Provide any combination of two of the following:
      • Certification of U.S. Citizenship;
      • Certificate of Naturalization;
      • Draft Record;
      • Voter registration card from another state or county;
      • Original or certified copy of a birth certificate bearing an official seal;
      • Certification of birth abroad issued by the Department of State;
      • Or any other form of identification issued by an official agency AND
      • Provide the last four (4) digits of your Social Security Number

**NOTE**

Wyoming is exempt from the federal "Motor Voter" law and DOES NOT offer voter registration at the Driver License Division.

Keeping Your Registration Current:

  • You do not need to re-register to vote in the upcoming General Election if you voted in the 2016 General Election in Niobrara County, however:

    • If you have moved since the last general election and have a new physical address within Niobrara County, go to the County Clerk's office to update your information or you may update the information at the polls in the correct polling place on election day,
    • If you have changed your name or wish to change your party affiliation, you must go to the County Clerk's office to update your information or you may change it at your polling place on Election Day.

You do need to re-register if:

  • You moved to a different county;
